NAUGATUCK — Gerald Comstock Platt Jr., 72, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Linda (Kennedy) Platt for 53 years.

Gerry was born Feb. 4, 1949, to the late Gerald Comstock Platt Sr. and Vilma Valorie May (Virgo) Platt. He descends from the Mayflower and one of the founding families of Milford.

Gerry grew up on his family’s dairy farm, A J Platt and Sons Dairy in Milford. He would help with farm work and deliver milk with his father. Gerry attended Milford Academy, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving on a mine sweeper, the USS Rival. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Coastal Carriers.

Gerry was a talented artist and musician. He had an incredible work ethic and an even stronger fighting spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Laura Giroux and her husband, James, Lisa Peil, and Heather Platt; his sister Susan Crawford; his brother James Platt; stepmother Kathryn Platt; and his grandchildren, Albert Platt, Jacob Giroux, Anthony Lantieri, Ava Yoder, and Bianca Lantieri.

Funeral services and committal with Military Honors will be at the convenience of the family.
The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Naugatuck is assisting with arrangements.
