BEACON FALLS — The Woodland boys swimmers, with their roster failing to reach a dozen, are still searching for their first victory of the season as the calendar turns to 2013.

The Hawks lost to Sacred Heart to start the season on Dec. 12 and dropped nonconference meets to Northwestern and Pomperaug before the Christmas break.

The Panthers beat Woodland, 92-61. Andy O’Dell earned a pair of individual victories, taking the 50-yard freestyle in 23.99 seconds and the 500 free in 5:25.03. Patrick Conway also earned a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:22.25.

The Hawks won two of the three relays. Their 200 free relay squad of Aidan Music, Jimmy Jensen, JD Dyckman and Patrick Dietz took that race in 1:47.57 before the 400 free relay team of Dyckman, Alan Katrenya, Music and O’Dell won in 3:51.53.

Woodland coach Tom Currier did not return calls seeking comment on the team’s start as of this post.

The Hawks are off until Jan. 8, when they visit Naugatuck to resume their Naugatuck Valley League schedule.
