State baseball and softball tournaments are underway.

No. 3 Woodland defeated No. 30 Seymour, 10-0, June 1 in the first round of the Class M baseball tournament.

Zach Drewry hit a solo home run in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth for the Hawks.

Ryan Montini also hit a solo home run for Woodland (19-2), and Matt Belcher added a triple, a single and a run scored.

Michael Belcher allowed five hits and struck out eight.

No. 3 Woodland will host No. 19 Watertown on June 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the second round.

No. 27 Naugatuck fell on the road to No. 6 West Haven, 7-1, June 1 in the first round of the Class LL tournament.

Jonathan Chatfield hit an RBI double, scoring Anthony Abate, who reached on an error for the Greyhounds (10-11).

No. 10 Naugatuck beat No. 23 Waterbury Career, 12-0, in five innings June 1 in the first round of the Class L tournament.

Alyssa Roberts struck out nine, and Aryn Bomberry homered to lead the Greyhounds.

Lauryn Ramalho doubled twice and scored twice for Naugatuck. Nadia Cestari and Kendall Allen each had three RBI.

The Greyhounds will host No. 26 E.O. Smith at 4 p.m. on June 2 at in the second round.

No. 1 Woodland earned a bye in the Class M tournament.

The Hawks (21-0) will host No. 16 Nonnewaug at 5 p.m. June 2 in the second round.
