Tournament to benefit Prospect family

BEACON FALLS — The first Karen Delpama 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday at Woodland Regional High School.

Longtime Prospect residents Joe and Karen Delpama both contracted cancer at nearly the same time. Although Karen Delpama fought long and hard, and always maintained a positive attitude, in late December she lost her battle.

Joe Delpama is still battling the disease and the couple has two children in Region 16 schools. The proceeds from the tournament will go the Delpama family to either defer some of the treatment costs or to assist the children.

The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. Boys and girls in grades sixth through eight will play from 1 to 3 p.m. Teams comprised of high school students will play from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The maximum number of players per team is five and the registration fee is $50 per team. To register or for more information, call Prospect Parks and Recreation at (203) 758-4461. Registration is also allowed on the day of the tournament at Woodland.
