The brackets for the boys’ and girls’ soccer and volleyball state tournaments were relased by the CIAC Friday morning. In all, five area teams qualified for state tournament play, which starts Monday.

Naugatuck boys’ soccer (13-0-3 regular season) is seeded second in Class LL and opens play Monday when it hosts No. 31 East Hartford (4-7-5) at 4 p.m. If the Hounds win, they will host a second-round game Wednesday against either No. 15 Newtown (9-3-3) or No. 18 Ridgefield (9-5-1).

Woodland boys’ soccer (12-4) is the eighth seed in Class M and will host its first-ever home tournament game Monday against No. 25 Foran (5-7-4) at 2 p.m. If the Hawks get their first-ever state tournament win, they will host the winner of the first-round game between No. 9 Abbott Tech (11-4-1) and No. 24 Norwich Tech (7-8-1) Wednesday.

Naugatuck girls’ soccer (12-2-1) is the only area soccer team to earn a first-round bye as the sixth seed in Class LL, so it will host a second-round match Wednesday against either No. 11 Staples (10-3-3) or No. 22 Southington (5-6-5).

Woodland girls’ soccer (9-5-2) is seeded 14th in Class M and will host No. 19 Enfield (9-6-1) in a first-round game Tuesday. If the Hawks win, they will travel to Redding to take on No. 3 Joel Barlow (13-0-1), which earned a bye.

Woodland volleyball (16-2) earned a first-round bye as the fourth seed in Class M and will host either No. 13 Tolland (11-5) or No. 20 Watertown (9-9) in Tuesday’s second round. If the Hawks win, they will host a quarterfinal game Friday at 7 p.m.
