On the Court: Woodland junior forward Heather Framski is off to a hot start for the 3-0 Hawks, leading her team in scoring in each of the first three games of the season. A second-team all-Naugatuck Valley League and all-suburban selection a year ago, Framski not only leads the team in scoring but also is tied for second in the NVL in points and, with frontcourt mate Katie Alfiere, leads the Hawks in rebounding. The junior has led the Black and Gold to a 3-0 start for the second year in a row, including an upset win over Wilby in the season opener and a pair of blowout victories over Seymour and Crosby.

By the Numbers: Framski has netted 59 points in the first three games of the season for a 19.7 average. She tallied 18 points in each of the first two contests: a 43-39 win over Wilby and a 64-37 victory over Seymour. Framski had her best outing of the young season in Tuesday’s home opener against Crosby, notching 23 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in the 64-37 rout.

In Her Own Words: “I try not to think about the fact that I’m the go-to scorer. It definitely adds a little bit of pressure. I love the pressure, but before every game all I think is, ‘It’s just another basketball game. Go out there and play how you play.’ As a team, we definitely get along very well. When we are out on the court, we all know that if someone’s having a bad game, there are four other girls who can pick up the slack. We’re like a family. We need to work on our pass selection, and there seems to still be the point guard presence missing. But I’m very happy where we are. This season is looking like it’s going to be a good one. We work hard every day, and we push each other. As a player, I am happy where I am, too. There’s always the ‘Oh man, I wish I did this instead of that’ after the games, but I’m happy playing with this group of girls and hopefully we will play to our potential the whole season.”
