Woodland
2021 results: 0-10 regular season
Graduated: Ryan Bucciferro, Albert Marchant
Seniors: Mark Barbarito
Season opener: vs. Seymour, April 11 (at Oxford Greens), 2 p.m.

The Woodland Hawks were in a rebuilding phase last year under coach Bill Carangelo, who will be stepping away for a season. Mike Magas will step in as coach this season.
In addition to Barbarito who shot a 91 at the NVL championship last year and finished 10th overall the Hawks will rely on returning junior Aiden Ianniruberto and returning sophomores Nick Sciaretto and Dean Norton.
“We have a lot of our top players back and we are hoping to make a little noise this season,” said Magas.
“We have a few freshman coming out and the goal for the season is to have every player shoot a lifetime best score and to go out there and have fun. We are going to take this one match and one hole at a time.”

Naugatuck
2021 results: 3-10
Graduated: Ryan Hunt (All-NVL)
Seniors: Logan McKinney and Ethan Vicente
Season opener: at. St. Paul, April 11 (Chippanee Country Club), 2:45 p.m.

Naugy closed out last season on the upswing, winning its last two matches. Coach Peter Kovalski is hoping the team will ride that momentum into this new season.
McKinney shot a 98 at the NVL championships last season, and Vicente will be looked on to lead the team.
Juniors Vin Ferrucci and Dan Testone are committed to improving their game. Freshman Nate Testone has shown promising potential. Sophia Schade and Elizabeth Nixon also have the potential to be impact players, as well.
“Logan is expected to be our most competitive player this year,” said Kovalski. “Vin was our most improved player last year and we are expecting that he will contend in all of our matches this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of our other players to see significant progress.”
