YMCA holding cheerleading classes

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck YMCA is running basic cheerleading classes for children ages 5 to 11.

The YMCA is offering beginning and advance cheerleading. Practices are held Wednesday nights at the YMCA, 284 Church St. Games are Thursday nights at Hillside Intermediate School, 51 Hillside Ave., at 6 p.m. For more information, call the YMCA at (203) 729-9622.

Volunteers wanted to coach travel baseball

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Travel Baseball is looking for volunteer coaches for its 2014 spring and summer seasons.

Head and assistant coaching positions are available for all levels of play ages 8 to 14. Registration and tryouts begin in November. Anyone interested in coaching can contact Tom Deller at (203) 768-2149 or nhsbaseballcoach@yahoo.com.

Hawks collecting donations for breast cancer awareness

BEACON FALLS — The Woodland Hawks football, cheer and dance programs will be collecting donations for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during Friday’s football game.

The Hawks are playing Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. in Beacon Falls and a helmet will be passed around during the game to collect donations. All proceeds will benefit a breast cancer organization.
