Hounds playing for spot in World Series

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck 10U Mays baseball team is heading to the postseason.
The Hounds finished the regular season 15-4-1 and secured a spot in the AABC state baseball tournament by winning their last two regular season games against Cheshire and Seymour.

The tournament is July 10 through July 12 at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury. The top two tournament teams advance to play in the Willie Mays World Series in Rockford, Ill., July 31 through Aug. 5.

NYS announces registration dates

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Youth Soccer has announced dates for open registration.

Registration can be done at Ion Bank, 87 Church St., July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., and Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information or to register online, visit naugatucksoccer.org.

Golf outing to benefit football alumni association

NAUGATUCK — Registration is open for the annual Naugatuck Football Alumni Golf Outing.

The outing, which is the largest fundraiser for the Naugatuck High School Football Alumni Association, is Aug. 7 at The Tradition Golf Club in Wallingford. The registration fee is $150 per player and includes breakfast, lunch and golf with a cart.
