Borough offering new basketball league

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Parks and Recreation will offer a new Salem Evening Basketball League for teens ages 14 to 18.

The fee for the program is $40. All children will play on a team but tryouts will be held for the draft. The tryouts will be between 6 and 9 p.m. June 29 and July 1.

Games will be played Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from July 6 to Aug. 12 at Salem Basketball Court on Meadow Street next to Salem School. Playoffs take place Aug. 17 and Aug. 19.

Participants must register in person at the Public Works Office, 246 Rubber Ave., between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Proof of age is required at registration.

Tournaments coming up at Hop Brook

NAUGATUCK — Hop Brook Golf Course announced two upcoming tournaments.

The annual Fathers Day Tournament is June 21. Fathers can play with their child or an in-law, no matter of their age. Tee times are necessary and can be made beginning June 19. Tee times for the adult division and children division are asked to be made tee times for the morning and afternoon, respectively. The entry fee is $10 per team.

Hop Brook is hosting its first Parent/Child Event on June 27 beginning at 3 p.m. This event is open to parents and children up to age 18. The entry fee is $10 per team.
