NEW BRITAIN — Naugatuck Reese defeated Overlook Black Sox, out of Wallingford, 5-3 July 25 at Martha Hart Park.

Jon Chatfield pitched a complete game and went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Mike Patton went 2 for 2 with a double and two runs scored.

The game was the last game of the round robin portion of the Nutmeg Games 12U Division. Naugatuck Reese finished the round robin portion of the tournament 1-2 and didn’t advance. 

Naugatuck Reese played in the Naugatuck Travel Baseball League, which recently finished its season. The season was the league’s first year in existence. Peter J. Foley Little League holding registration

NAUGATUCK — Peter J. Foley Little League is holding registration for the fall season this month.

Registration sessions will be held Aug. 8 and Aug. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Aug. 10 and Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peter J. Foley Clubhouse, 299 Scott St.

Any child who was 5 to11 years old on April 30, 2013 is eligible to play. New players should bring a birth certificate and three proofs of residence on Naugatuck’s west side. Returning players do not need to bring these records as they are on file.

NYS holding walk-in registration

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Youth Soccer is holding a walk-in registration Aug. 10.

Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hill Middle School, 441 City Hill St. Players turn 5 years old by July 31, 2014 through 12 years old are eligible to play. The fee is $65 for in-house recreation, ages 5 to 10, and $110 for district recreation, ages 11 and 12. A discount is available for players who sign up for fall and spring soccer. New players must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

NHS football practice to begin

NAUGATUCK — The first day of preseason practice for Naugatuck High School’s football team is Aug. 19.

All returning players and incoming freshmen who are playing football should report to the high school, 543 Rubber Ave., at 3 p.m. All medical forms must be turned into the high school prior to the practice.

NHS volleyball team hosting camp

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck volleyball team will be holding a camp at Breen Field the mornings Aug. 19 to Aug. 23.

Future Hawks basketball camps

BEACON FALLS — Future Hawks Basketball Camps will be held for boys and girls in grades three to eight in August.

The girls’ camp will be held Aug. 12 to Aug. 16 and the boys’ camp will be held Aug. 19 to Aug. 23. Registration is $125. Both camps will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pent Road Recreation Complex, 100 Pent Road.

Volleyball camp for girls

BEACON FALLS — A volleyball camp for girls entering grades five to nine will be held Aug. 19 to Aug. 23.
