Union City Little League holding registration

NAUGATUCK — Union City Little League is holding registration this month for the upcoming season.

Registration can be done Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Jan. 24 and Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Union City Clubhouse, 165 Morris St.

Boys born before Dec. 31, 2010 and after April 30, 2003 and girls born before Dec.31, 2010 and after Jan. 1, 2008 are eligible to play baseball. Players must live in the Union City Little League boundaries.

All Naugatuck girls born before Dec. 31, 2008 and after Jan.1, 2001 are eligible to play softball.

YMCA offering running program

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck YMCA is offering a running program to help get runners ready for the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race and Festival.

Programs are available for 5K and 10K runners. Participants in the 10K program must be able to run 4 miles. The program is seven weeks long and group runs are held Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 8 p.m. Training plans will be provided weekly, and Road Runners Club of America certified coaches will be available during group runs.

The program begins Jan. 20. There will be an informational meeting Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at the YMCA, 284 Church St.

The fee for the program is $75 for YMCA members and $95 for non-members. The fee includes registration for the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race. The race, which is a fundraiser for the Naugatuck Education Foundation, is scheduled for March. 15.

NYS having open registration

NAUGATUCK — A walk-in registration session for Naugatuck Youth Soccer’s 2015 spring season will be held next week.

Players can register Jan. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ion Bank, 87 Church St.
