DERBY — The Robert A. Cole Little League of Beacon Falls won the Little League District 3 championship in the 9-10 baseball division Sunday with an 11-1 victory over Prospect at Derby’s Uluski Field.
Tyler Ciavarella ended the game in the fourth inning with a two-run homer, his second extra-base hit of the day. Matt Koliani and Jason Palmieri each had three hits and a run scored, while Riley Muricchio, Ben Brooks and Brady Anderson each added two hits.
Ciavarella and Nate Bodnar combined on a three-hitter. Prospect’s hits came from D.J. Mulligan, Ryan Montini and Jack Lawlor.
Other Beacon Falls team members include Camron Brant, Cameron Heeman, Jamie Napoleone, Jayden Tomasella and Matt Deegan. Chris Anderson, Bill Brooks and Tom Deegan are the coaches.
Beacon Falls scored 65 runs in 22 innings of district tournament play, in which it went 4-1. Beacon Falls advances to the divisional tournament, and its next game will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Peter J. Foley Little League in Naugatuck.
