SportsFillerWebBEACON FALLS — Beacon Falls’ Robert A. Cole Little League concluded its regular season with the two majors teams taking on teams from Seymour, Derby, Ansonia, Prospect and Union City.

The RACBL All-Stars are set to begin play on Thursday against Seymour at Ansonia’s Nolan Field.

“We have a strong team this year,” head coach Bill Butterworth said. “My assistant coaches, Bob Bennard and Al Pangrac Jr., have been hard at work and we are proud and confident that this team will give it their all.”

The RACBL All-Stars have a capable pitching staff led by Zach Bedryczuk, Justin Butterworth, Kyle Macek, Justin Marks, David Kiernan and Albert Pangrac III. Splitting the duties behind the plate are catchers Justin Marks, David Kiernan and Zach Bennard.

“All of our pitchers did well during the regular season,” Butterworth added. “They have all looked very sharp in practice and we have a good rotation of catchers to give us a solid pitching game.”

Defense will play a key in the success of the team. Alex Kalentek, Ryan Swanson, Jason Hicks and Dante DiRubba will patrol the outfield. The infield is solid and experienced with Zach Bennard, Jackson Henry and Tyler Tomasella holding down the defense.

“We have kids who hustle on every play and they also have experience,” Butterworth said. “We have spent a lot of time in the batting cages. If they hit like they have been doing in practice these last two weeks we will be sure to put some runs on the board.”
