Naugatuck junior Aryn Bombery earned every bit of her all-league honors by scoring in double figures in all 10 games during the season’s second half, and that effort helped the Greyhounds clinch NVL and state tournament berths.

All-Iron Division
Naugatuck senior Lauryn Ramalho shifted gears and led the team in scoring in the final four games, three of which the Greyhounds won, to qualify for the league tournament.

Woodland sophomore Michaela Gasparri scored a career-high 16 points in a 52-51 NVL tournament quarterfinal loss to Torrington on Feb. 18.

In the nick of time
Naugatuck senior Dillon Gray came up big in the season finale with 23 points to help the Hounds to a 60-55 win over Torrington on Feb. 22, a victory that qualified his team for the NVL tournament.

Relative earns MVP
Former Prospect resident Jonathan Cristillo, the great nephew of this writer, was named the MVP of the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex boys basketball tournament. The senior captain led the Sparta Spartans to a 50-42 win over the Hacketstown Tigers in Sussex, N.J., on Feb. 18.
