Boys swimming

Woodland dove back into the pool Wednesday versus Northwestern following the holiday break. Northwestern topped Woodland 92-70. Events winners for the Hawks were Aidan Music in the 200 IM and the 100 breast, Alyssa Varesio in the 100 backstroke and the 400 free relay squad of Julie Hinckley, Chase Chura, Patrick Conway and Jake Stow. The Hawks will host Kennedy on Friday.

Girls basketball

The Hawks won their last two games to improve to 3-5 on the season. Woodland topped Wilby 44-19 Dec. 30. Becky Hale led the Hawks with 17 points. Hailey Andrews pitched in 15 and Carla Piccolo added eight. Woodland went on the road to face Derby Tuesday and came home with a 43-37 victory. Piccolo and Jenna Pannone led Woodland to the win, each scoring 12 points, as Hale added seven points. Woodland will host Sacred Heart Friday at 7 p.m. before visiting St. Paul on Monday.

Boys swimming

The Greyhounds are enjoying a long winter break. Naugatuck is scheduled to return to the pool Jan. 13 at Seymour.

Girls basketball

Naugatuck has slipped to (1-7) on the year as the Greyhounds seek to find their footing. Naugy fell to Crosby 53-23 on Dec. 30. Nicole Boucher had four points for the Greyhounds as Alexis Woods added five points. The Greyhounds lost to Joel Barlow (28-20) Jan. 2 and Sacred Heart (48-29) Jan. 3. Boucher led the way for Naugy with 10 points against Joel Barlow and 14 versus Sacred Heart. The Greyhounds fell to Oxford 38-21 Tuesday night. Jackie Aronin and Alexandra Mezzo had four points each for Naugy. Naugatuck will host Holy Cross Friday, before hitting the road to face Seymour on Tuesday.
