NAUGATUCK — Joshua Oakley, of Naugatuck, will compete as a member of Team Connecticut at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games.

Oakley will compete in track and field, Special Olympics Connecticut announced in a press release. The Special Olympics USA Games will take place in Seattle, Wash., from July 1 to July 6. More than 4,000 Special Olympics athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will compete at the games.

“Special Olympics changed my life by helping me gain more skills and challenging me to work hard. I’m looking forward to running and winning, enjoying activities and seeing Seattle for the first time. It makes me feel excited knowing that I’m representing the state of Connecticut with my team,” said Oakley, who joined Special Olympics Connecticut in 2007, in a prepared statement.
