The Naugatuck boys soccer and Woodland volleyball teams won their respective Naugatuck Valley League tournament titles Wednesday night.

Adam Branco scored two goals, one in each half, to lead the Greyhounds to a 4-1 victory over Torrington at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury. Daniel Silva got the scoring started for Naugatuck nearly nine minutes into the match and Ygor Silva followed up with a goal of his own six minutes later to make the score 2-0. Torrington’s Shane Bierfeidt scored with just under 21 minutes left in the game to avoid the shutout.

Woodland defeated Torrington 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19) at Kennedy High School in Waterbury to win the league tournament title.

Brianna Pacileo led the Hawks with 18 kills, 18 digs and four aces. Samantha Lee added 39 assists, 18 digs, three aces and two kills. Rachel Starkey had 22 digs, two kills and two aces. Machol Butler added three kills and one block and Ashley Michie had 19 digs.

The Naugatuck girls played a classic game against Watertown for the title at Municipal Stadium, but fell short 2-1 on penalty kicks.

Watertown’s Fitore Kllobocishta put in the first goal of the game with seven minutes to go in the first half to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. Naugatuck’s Alexya Alves tied the game with 24 minutes left to go in the second half. The deadlock at 1-1 remained throughout regulation and 20 minutes of overtime. Watertown prevailed 5-3 in a penalty kick shootout to earn the title.
