Here’s a roundup of earlier-round action in the Naugatuck Valley League tournaments:

Boys soccer
For the first time in a long time, the NVL semifinals didn’t include Woodland or Naugatuck.
The No. 5-seeded Hawks suffered a 1-0 loss to Seymour in the quarterfinals despite six saves by Brayden Raudenbush. Seymour scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation.
Naugatuck didn’t qualify for the tournament.

Girls soccer
Top-seeded Woodland made it through the first two rounds of the tournament to reach yet another league final. In the quarterfinals, the Hawks beat St. Paul, 6-1, thanks to a hat trick by Dani Celotto. Michaella Gasparri, Meg Hartnett, and April Bell each had a goal and an assist in the victory.
No. 6 Naugatuck suffered an 8-2 loss to Holy Cross in the quarterfinals. Lauren Sonski netted both goals for the Greyhounds.

Volleyball
No. 2 Woodland advanced to the final by sweeping WCA and Holy Cross in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Against the Spartans, Kalle Legassey led the way with 17 kills and eight digs, while Ava Bianchini added nine kills with three aces, and Emma Fabrizi facilitated with 30 assists and three aces.
The Hawks also rolled past the Crusaders thanks to nine kills and 14 digs by Legassey and 16 assists by Fabrizi.
No. 8-seeded Naugatuck fell to eventual runner-up Seymour, 3-0, in the quarterfinals.
