The No. 11-seeded Naugatuck softball team advanced to the Class L state tournament second round Wednesday with a 7-5 win over No. 22 Masuk at Naugatuck. The Hounds pounded out 10 hits, two each coming from Daniella Stoehrer, Lianne Wallace, Skye Stella, and Alexis Granahan. Alexa Mariucci held off a late Masuk rally to earn the win.

The Hounds will travel to Bristol Thursday to face No. 6 Bristol Eastern, which earned a first-round bye. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. The winner advances to the quarterfinals Friday to face No. 19 Maloney, which pulled a pair of upsets in the first two rounds of the tourney.
