WATERBURY — Holy Cross scored 29 points in the fourth quarter in a 43-0 shutout of Naugatuck Friday night at Municipal Stadium.

Two of the Crusaders’ (5-1, 3-0 NVL Copper) touchdowns on the night came on interception returns, a 92-yarder by Joe Parent in the second quarter and a 45-yarder by Isaiah Wright in the fourth.

Naugatuck (4-2, 2-2 NVL Copper) only trailed, 14-0, through three quarters before the fourth-period onslaught.

Crusaders running back Dave DiGiorgi scored on touchdowns of 12 and 2 yards while Nick Gambacini found the end zone from 13 yards out for the game’s final score.

The big blow was an 86-yard fly pass from Zach Brown to Wright, which made it a 21-0 game early in the fourth quarter.

Naugatuck’s Jake Yourison was held to 85 yards on 21 carries while Zac Mercer was 4-of-14 passing for 109 yards and three interceptions.

The Greyhounds will travel to Woodland on Friday night in hopes of snapping a two-game losing streak.
