Post University will have a new face on the volleyball team next season.

Julia Longo, of Naugatuck, will be playing in the back row for the Eagles as they look to compete for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship.

Longo spent the first two years of her collegiate career at Southern Connecticut State before deciding to transfer to Post University for the opportunity to play volleyball.

“I really liked Post University because it is closer to home, and it’s a smaller school, and I have a lot of friends here,” she said, in a prepared statement. “I also really wanted the chance to play volleyball, so it was a good fit.”

As a senior at Naugatuck High School, Longo led her team to the Naugatuck Valley League semifinals, and was named to the All-NVL team.

She was also named to the Naugatuck High School All-Decade softball team by the Citizen’s News.

Longo plans to major in Human Services, and hopes work as a drug counselor when she graduates from Post University.

“I’d like to be a social worker so I can help people,” she said.

The junior will be wearing number 27 when the Eagles open up next season in Boca Raton, Fla., where the team will take on Division II powerhouse Kentucky State, among others in the Lynn University tournament.

The season begins September 2.
