With the regular season in the books one day late, because of snow, the Naugatuck Valley League girls’ basketball tournament field is set.

Torrington (18-2, 18-1 NVL) earned the top seed over St. Paul (18-2, 17-2 NVL) by virtue of a better league record. Holy Cross (17-3, 17-2 NVL), which will host Saturday’s quarterfinal round, is seeded third, followed by three teams with identical overall records.

Ansonia (13-7, 13-6 NVL) is the No. 4 seed, ahead of Woodland (13-7, 12-7 NVL) and Wilby (13-7, 12-7). The Hawks get the No. 5 spot, instead of the Wildcats, because of their 43-39 win at Wilby in the teams’ only regular-season meeting.

Derby (10-10, 9-10 NVL) is seeded seventh, and Kennedy (8-12, 8-11 NVL) grabbed the eighth and final tourney berth, beating Naugatuck (8-12, 7-12 NVL) for the spot because of its NVL mark.

Saturday’s tournament schedule is as follows:

Quarterfinals at Holy Cross: No. 3 Holy Cross vs. No. 6 Wilby, 12 p.m.; No. 2 St. Paul vs. No. 7 Derby, 2 p.m.; No. 4 Ansonia vs. No. 5 Woodland, 4 p.m.; No. 1 Torrington vs. No. 8 Kennedy, 6 p.m.

The two semifinal games will be played Monday, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., at Kennedy. The final will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at a site to be determined.
