Cheerleaders vie for co-ed state title

NEW HAVEN — The Woodland and Naugatuck cheerleading squads battled it out at the state co-ed cheerleading championships on March 3 at the Floyd Little Athletic Complex.

After winning its first ever NVL co-ed championship, Woodland entered the state co-ed competition for the first time and finished in tenth place with a team score of 133.60.

Naugatuck, which competed in the state co-ed cheerleading championship for the seventh time, finished 16th with a score of 89.50.

The field was stacked with solid contenders for the crown. Plainville, the CCC champion, edged out Fairfield Ludlowe 185.80 to 182.80 to win the co-ed division championship.
