BASEBALL NOTEBOOK: Plasky earns another GHTBL title with Jets

Corey Plasky can call himself a Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League champion again.
Plasky plays for the East Hartford Jets, who just captured their third straight CTL playoff championship. East Hartford lost its first game, 3-1, to the Hartford Colts. After that, the Jets ripped off six straight victories, including a pair over the Vernon Orioles, to claim the title.
Plasky batted second for the Jets in the winner-take-all championship game and went 1-for-3 in a game his team won, 5-4. During the playoffs, the former Naugatuck standout batted .304 (7-for-23) with two doubles, two RBI, three walks and three stolen bases. During the regular season, Plasky led the league in hits (30) and stolen bases (11), and he was tied for first in runs scored with 20. Plasky finished third in batting average at .411.
Plasky, along with 24 other players, were named all-stars as decided by the GHTBL managers. Plasky was chosen as an all-star by seven of the league’s nine managers.
Former Woodland standout Justin Marks, who plays for the Record-Journal Expos, was also named as an all-star and chosen by seven of the league’s nine managers. Marks finished third in the GHTBL in strikeouts with 65. He started seven games and posted a 4-0 record with a 1.34 ERA in 31 1/3 innings. Marks tossed a pair of complete games.
