Naugatuck Post 17 has rallied from a difficult start and is playing its strongest baseball of the season over the last two weeks. The resurgence was highlighted by a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night over Oakville, one of Zone 5’s top teams. Seth Mulhall pitched a complete game while Jon Bisson led the offensive charge with two hits and an RBI. Nolan Kinne and Ryan White both had hits in the victory. The victory came just two days after Naugy dropped a 9-1 decision to Oakville with Matt Zahornasky’s hit being among the few highlights. In the second game of Tuesday night’s doubleheader, Post 17 lost to Ansonia, 3-0. Naugatuck is 6-15 with a little more than a week left to its season.

Prospect-Beacon Falls Posts 194-25 is still searching for its first win with the youngest team in Zone 5. Over the second half of the season, though, PBF has kept games far more competitive than it did in the first few weeks. On Sunday, PBF lost to Monroe, 4-1. Eric Beutel and Sam Merriman recorded hits in the loss. Posts 194-25 fell again to Oxford, 11-0, on Tuesday. Prospect-Beacon Falls has just more than a week left to its season.
