Naugatuck High senior Aren Seeger went up against the best of New England at the New England track and field championships June 9 at the University of New Hampshire.

Seeger is no stranger to the surroundings at the New England championships, he finished third last year in the 300 hurdles. This year, Seeger finished fourth in the 300 hurdles in 39.30. Billy Powers from New Hampshire won the event in 38.67.

In the 110 hurdles, Seeger placed 8th in 15:31. Powers won the event in 14.25.

CIAC multievent championships: Naugatuck and Woodland athletes competed in the CIAC Decathlon and Heptathlon Championship, Hammer Throw and Steeplechase over two days last week at Manchester High School.

Naugatuck’s Benjamin Healy and Matt Pimpinelli competed in the decathlon. Healy finished 18th with 4,449 points, and Pimpinelli placed 23rd with 4,147 points.

Woodland’s Matthew Luxeder finished 23rd in 11:01.27 in the boys 3000 meter steeplechase. Woodland’s Megen Sirowich competed in the girls heptathlon and placed 35th with 1,599 points.
