The start of the Naugatuck Valley League baseball and softball tournaments have been pushed back due to the impact of last week’s powerful storm.

The baseball and softball tournaments are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The tournaments can’t begin until the Oxford baseball and softball teams conclude their regular seasons.

In baseball, Sacred Heart is scheduled to play at Oxford on Tuesday. In softball, Oxford will play the Hearts at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday. Oxford was particular hit hard during last week’s storm, causing the games to be postponed.

If Oxford beats Sacred Heart in baseball, the Wolverines are the No. 8 tourney seed. If the Hearts win, Oxford is out and Naugatuck moves into the No. 8 spot.

Woodland is the No. 4 seed in the tournament and is scheduled to host Seymour at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The semis and final are at Municipal Stadium. The Thursday semi doubleheader has start times of 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with the Friday final at 6:30 p.m.

In softball, the top eight teams are set, but not the seeds. The game between Oxford and Sacred Heart will determine seeding.

Seymour is No. 1, St. Paul No. 2, and Holy Cross No. 3, with Cross winning the tiebreaker against Wolcott. Both teams were 14-4 in the NVL.

If Oxford beats Sacred Heart on Tuesday, Oxford is No. 5, Watertown No. 6, Naugatuck No. 7, and the Hearts drop to No. 8.

If Sacred Heart beats Oxford on Tuesday, Watertown is No. 5, Sacred Heart No. 6, Oxford No. 7, Naugatuck No. 8, all based on NVL tiebreak scenarios.

The softball semis are Thursday at Seymour, 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and the championship game is at Naugatuck on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
