NAUGATUCK — With one more meet before the postseason begins, the Naugatuck boys and girls track teams are looking to hit their stride.
The boys showed signs of being a contender for the NVL title after Tuesday’s meet in Seymour. The boys earned a 110-40 victory over Seymour and a 138-13 win against Wilby to improve to 10-1-1 on the season.
Aaron Seeger won the 110 hurdles (15 seconds), the 300 hurdles (39.8 seconds) and the 200 meters (22.8 seconds).
Ben Healy also took home first in three events, winning the long jump (20-7), high jump (5-10) and the triple jump (41-8). Zach Koslosky won the 400 (54.5 seconds) and the pole vault (11-6).
Chris Akindura won the 100 meters (11.2 seconds), Ross Via took first in the 1600 (5:02), and Elliott Via won the 800 (2:11).
The boys team also won all three relays.
The 4×800 team of Jonathon Volpe, Austin Herb, Brendon Soubannarath and Bryce Cegielski posted a winning time of 9:00. The 4×100 foursome of Nick Boudreau, Akindura, Healy and Jeff Schebell took first in 45.7. The 4×400 squad of Seeger, Volpe, Akindura and Cegielski finished first in 3:47.
The girls team split the meet. The Greyhounds raced past Wilby, 130-11, and fell short to Seymour, 88-62.
It was a team sweep in the relays that sparked the girls, who are 6-6 on the year.
The 4×800 relay squad of Victoria Lawson, Briana Lennon, Lauren Rupsis and Evelyn Diaz ran to first in 11:00. The 4×100 team of Loren Quarles, Brianna Haye, Paige Cruz and Rachel Huculak won in 52.68, and the 4×400 team of Cruz, Diaz, Haye and Latecianna Stoudmire finished first in 4:27.
In individual events, Brianna Soubannarath took first in the 100 hurdles (17.8 seconds), Rachel Huculak won the 400 meters (64.8 seconds), and Diaz won the 800 (2:39).
Naugatuck will close out the regular season Tuesday at home against Watertown and Sacred Heart.
