NAUGATUCK — The City Hill Middle School girls basketball team finished the season 18-2 overall and runner-up in the Jr. Naugatuck Valley League girls basketball tournament.

City Hill finished tied for first in the Jr. NVL with Seymour Middle School at 11-1 in the league. City Hill was the No. 2 seed in the tournament due to a tiebreaker with Seymour. The Cyclones defeated Swift Middle School in the semifinals, 57-42, to set up the rematch with Seymour for the title.

Seymour beat City Hill, 62-55, in the title game.

After an early-season loss, the Cyclones won 16 straight games, including the championship of the Great Oak Invitational Tournament in Oxford. The Cyclones defeated Great Oak, Bethel and Rochambeau in the tournament, outscoring their opponents 150-73.
