NEW HAVEN — After a strong showing at the Naugatuck Valley League championships, the Woodland boys indoor track team kept it going at the state Class S meet on Tuesday evening at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Smith was also involved in the 4×200 relay and 1600 sprint medley. The 4 x 200 placed third overall, and the team also included Ben Nuss, Sean Mardin and Jack LaPerriere.

The sprint medley took third with the team of Nuss, Mardin and Cedric Benoit.

The 4×400 relay team, which won the event at the NVLs, placed fourth with Mardin, Mark Crowley, Benoit and Matt Luxeder.

Woodland also received individual points from Luxeder, who took sixth in the 600 meters.  Teammate Isiah Miller was 12th in the event.

Craig Starkey, who won the pole vault at the NVLs, took sixth at the Class S.

After winning its sixth straight NVL indoor title, the Woodland girls team competed at the Class M meet on Monday. The girls finished 29th overall.
