NVL tournaments kicked off Saturday with quarterfinal action.

In boys soccer, Naugatuck and Woodland advanced to the semifinals.

No. 1 Naugatuck beat No. 8 Kennedy, 4-0, behind goals from David Ruela, Vinny Knupp, Brandon Vieira and Matt Carroll. Aren Seeger made two saves in net for the Greyhounds.

No. 3 Woodland beat No. 6 Torrington, 2-0, behind goals from Anthony Barreira and Devon Polletta. A.J. Oliveira made five saves in net for the Hawks.

Naugatuck will face No. 5 Ansonia in the semifinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Woodland will face No. 2 Oxford at 5 p.m. Both games are at Seymour High School. The final is Thursday at 5 p.m. at Naugatuck High.

In girls soccer, Woodland advanced while Naugatuck fell in the opening round.

No. 1 Woodland beat No. 8 Seymour, 8-0. Hailey Boris and Julia Casimiro had two goals each. Gillian Hotchkiss, Megen Sirowich, Jillian Barbarito and Sam Plasky all had a goal. Jenna Pannone and Alanna Carasone combined for two saves in net.

No. 7 Naugatuck fell to No. 2 Watertown, 6-0.

Woodland will play No. 4 Holy Cross in the semifinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Watertown High School. The final is Thursday at Naugatuck High at 7:30 p.m.

In volleyball, Woodland and Naugatuck advanced to the semifinals.

No. 3 Woodland beat No. 6 Holy Cross, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-20). Stephanie Krebbs had 10 kills and two aces for the Hawks. Maddie Hupprich had 27 assists and 15 digs to go along with six kills.

No. 5 Naugatuck beat No. 4 Kennedy, 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23). Molly Kennedy has 21 points, 11 aces and 12 kills for the Greyhounds. Olivia Rotatori added 21 kills and 11 blocks.

Woodland will face No. 2 Seymour in the semifinals on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Naugatuck will play No. 1 Torrington on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Both matches are at Naugatuck High. The final is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Woodland.
