The Naugatuck and Woodland softball teams’ postseasons were cut short Tuesday in the first round of state tournament action.

No. 19 Naugatuck traveled to Windsor to take on the No. 14 Warriors (13-7) in the Class L tournament. Naugatuck (11-9) put up a fight, but came away on the short end of a 5-2 final margin.

Jessica Conover went four and a third innings in the pitcher’s circle for Naugatuck. She struck out three, walked one and surrendered five runs.

Molly Kennedy got the big hit for the Greyhounds, blasting a two-run double. Olivia Rotatori had two hits with Taya Diaz and Alex Langhans adding singles. Katie Jaronecyzk and Olivia Filanowski scored the runs for the Greyhounds.

No. 28 Woodland (10-10) hit the road to take on No. 5 Rocky Hill (19-1) in the Class M tournament. Rocky Hill scored early and often in a 14-0 win over the Hawks to advance to the second round.
