Naugatuck and Woodland made quick exits in the Naugatuck Valley League softball tournament on Saturday.
The No. 6 Greyhounds fell to No. 2 Torrington, 12-1.
Jackie Aronin notched the Greyhounds’ (11-10) only run with an RBI triple as Torrington’s (17-5) Ali DuBois tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11 batters.
No. 8 Woodland went up against No.1 Seymour and were upended by a slim 1-0 final.
Seymour (21-1) barley got by Woodland thanks to a perfect game from Raeanne Geffert in the pitcher’s circle. Ivy Geloso scattered just four hits for the Hawks (10-11), but a first-inning run was all the Cats needed.
Naugatuck and Woodland will now prepare for the Class L and Class M state tournaments, respectively. Pairings will be announced on Friday. The tournaments start Saturday with the qualifying round. First round games are May 31.
