Naugy senior James Mesidor scored a career-high 30 points Feb. 11 versus Torrington, but it wasn’t enough as the ‘Hounds fell, 80-78, at the buzzer.
Leading Hawk
Woodland junior Morina Bojka led the Hawks (13-7) in scoring for the 11th time this season with 24 points in a 40-31 win over Naugatuck Feb. 12.
A senior spark
Naugatuck senior Ally Mezzo was honored before last Friday’s game against Woodland because the senior wouldn’t be at Tuesday’s senior night. Mezzo went out and scored eight of the ‘Hounds 16 points in the opening quarter to provide a spark.
Woodland leader
Senior Jon Scirpo led Woodland with 20 points as the Hawks surprised Naugatuck in a 67-53 win Feb. 12.
Leading the way
Naugatuck senior Nicole Boucher posted a game-high 13 points on senior night Tuesday as the Greyhounds ends the season with a 37-34 victory over Wolcott.

Gymnastics
Woodland’s gymnastic sisters were at it again on Monday in a meet against Newtown, Oxford and Nonnewaug. Stephanie Poynton put up some of her highest scores of the season with an 8.9 on the vault, 8.7 on the beam, 8.6 on the floor and an 8.5 on the bars for an overall total of 34.7. Kristina Poynton had some of her highest marks as well with a pair of 8.5 scores on the vault and bars, an 8.3 on the floor and a 7.7 on the beam for an all-around total of 33.
