Mo’s Moments of the Week
Season high rushing
Antoine Sistrunk, the Greyhounds’ senior running back, ran for a season high 238 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns as Naugatuck defeated Watertown 40-23 Oct. 29.
Steering the offense
Alexa Casimiro, the Hawks’ senior midfielder, has steered the offense in the NVL tournament. Woodland has outscored the opposition 10-0 through the first two rounds. Casimiro has scored two of those goals and assisted on five others.
Making them count
Senol Music, the sophomore midfielder for Woodland, scored the game winning goal in a 2-0 win over Ansonia in the quarterfinals of the NVL boys soccer tournament and the only goal in the 1-0 semifinal win over Oxford.
Defensive stopper
Felipe Dutra, the Greyhounds’ senior defenseman, has been a key element in Naugatuck’s run to another NVL championship game. The Greyhounds shut out Seymour in the quarterfinals and Crosby in the semifinals. Against the Bulldogs, Dutra consistently knocked away Crosby advances especially late in the second half with the game on the line.
Keeping it out of the net
Woodland goalie A.J. Oliveira the Woodland has pitched zeros in the NVL tournament shutting out Ansonia in the quarterfinals and Oxford in the semifinals. The junior keeper was at his best in the final moments of the game making several stops at the door step to hold off Oxford.

Girls Swimming
Naugatuck competed in the NVL championship meet this week. The Greyhounds will then prepare for the Class L trials next week in preparation for the Class L finals on Nov. 18.
