Naugatuck’s Jason Bradley was named the Naugatuck Valley League’s Male Athlete of the Year, the league announced last week.

Bradley is a 10-time letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball, and a seven-time captain of those varsity teams. He is a two-time All-NVL and All-State football player and a three-year starter at quarterback.

Bradley holds the school’s single-season and career records in touchdowns and passing yards. His 107 career touchdowns rank third in state history and are only six off the record. He was chosen as the NVL Player of the Year in football for 2015.

“Jason Bradley is one of the finest student-athletes Naugatuck High School has ever had,” Naugatuck Athletic Director Tom Pompei said. “He has a 3.53 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and has been involved in our student government for his four years.”

In addition to his football accomplishments, Bradley is a two-year starter at shortstop and leadoff hitter for the baseball team. He was also the third-leading scorer and captain of the Greyhounds’ state finalist basketball team this past winter.

“His play and leadership was instrumental in our run to Mohegan Sun,” Pompei said. “More than all of these accomplishments combined, Jason is one of the most genuine, honorable, respectful and inspiring students Naugatuck High School has seen in its halls. He is the template for all student-athletes and has left a remarkable imprint on both NHS and the NVL.”

Oxford’s Ashley Guillette, a four-year varsity letter-winner and four-year starting pitcher for the softball team, was named Female Athlete of the Year.
