Tournaments coming up at Hop Brook

NAUGATUCK — Hop Brook Golf Course has announced two upcoming tournaments.

The Third Annual Fathers Day Tournament is Sunday. The tournament is open to any father and his child, regardless of their ages. The tournament will have different divisions.

The entry fee, excluding greens fees and cart, is $15 per team. To register or for more information, call the pro shop at (203) 729-8013.

The 2014 Hop Brook mens and womens club championships are coming up. Qualifying will begin June 30 and continue until July 13. Match play will begin July 14 with the final matches being held Aug. 3 with a rain date of Aug. 10.

NYS holding travel league tryouts

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Youth Soccer will hold travel league registration and tryouts for U11-U14 teams this month.

Registration will be held June 23 to June 27 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. at City Hill Middle School, 441 City Hill St. Players born between Aug. 1, 2000 and July 31, 2004 are eligible to play. Registration will be done during tryouts. All players must be registered and paid before they are allowed to tryout. The fee is $110 for the fall and $187 for the fall and spring seasons. No other registration dates and no online registration will be available to travel players.

YMCA offers swimming lessons

NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck YMCA will be offering swimming lessons starting June 24.

The lessons are for swimmers of all ages. They will be held once a week for seven weeks at the YMCA, 284 Church St. Morning lessons also will be offered twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Competitive training is available for regional team swimmers as well.

Soccer registration open for fall season

PROSPECT — Registration for the 2014 fall Prospect Youth Soccer season is open.

Registration for travel soccer closes on June 22. A discount applies for those who register by June 15. Recreation registration closes on Aug. 4, while Dinomites registration closes on Sept. 5. Early bird discounts apply for players registered by July 1.
