Round of Applause

The next five-plus weeks in Beacon Falls are going to be a whole lot of fun. This weekend, we’ve got the annual RiverFest and Duck Race behind Beacon Hose. On May 31, we’ve got the Inaugural Valley Dodgeball Classic. From June 5-7, we’ve got the Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival. Pardon me for being excited. It’s a good time not only to be a Beacon Falls resident, but a resident of the Valley — come join me at all three events!

Beacon Hose Softball

We had no game Monday due to a scheduling conflict, so we’ve got a busy weekend in store for Beacon Hose softball. Sunday we’ll be on the road in Derby before we return home Monday night at 8 to face Monroe. I hit approximately 500 fly balls at a practice last Sunday to try to alleviate our issues in that area. We will continue to practice and eventually we will do things right in games. Come support your local fire department Monday night!

Word from the Woods

Baseball

The Hawks are mired in a tough stretch, going 1-4 in their last five games to drop to 5-5 on the season. Last Friday, Woodland narrowly fell short of handing Seymour its first loss in a 1-0 game. Kevin Gabianelli notched three hits and three runs, while Mike Kenney had two hits and two runs. Woodland suffered another hard-luck loss Tuesday in a 4-3 defeat to Derby, which scored the winning run in the sixth inning. Tanner Kingsley had two hits and two runs for the Hawks.
