Futures Interclub Team begins play

NAUGATUCK — The Hop Brook junior interclub team began play with a match this past Monday at Bulls Bridge Golf Club in Kent.

This is a nine hole junior league for children ages 8 to 15. The team was led by Garrett Burke, who placed sixth in the 12 and under division. Highfield Golf Club in Middlebury leads after one event with 21 points.

The team’s next match is Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Candlewood Lake Club. The team is looking for more children to play. The team practices together every Thursday with a lesson from 9 to 10 a.m. then plays until 12 p.m.

Qualifier for club championship coming to an end

NAUGATUCK — The 2013 Club Championship qualifier ends Sunday.

All players are required to play 18 holes when qualifying. The entry fee is $15, which includes an awards banquet and scramble on Aug. 11. Match play begins July 15. Registration is open.

Qualifying for Junior Club Championship

NAUGATUCK — The 2013 Junior Club Championship will hold qualifying from July 22 through July 28.

Children ages 8 to 17 are eligible to qualify. The cost is $15, which will include a parent/child event Aug. 24, with championship barbecue to follow. Registration is open.
