The Naugatuck Red Dogs U-12 boys’ soccer team has had a very successful 2010 campaign. The boys from the borough won several tournaments and reached the finals in several others.

Naugatuck won the Clinton Invitational Tournament earlier this season. Recently, the Red Dogs traveled to Rhode Island, where they competed in and won the Seaside Classic Tournament. The Red Dogs outscored their opponents 30 goals to one in the tournament.

Naugatuck reached the final of the CJSA State Tournament finals before falling to West Haven, 3-2. They also reached the championship game of the Cheshire Invitational Tournament.

The team has been together for two years now, improving greatly on their U-10 season when the Red Dogs failed to win a game. Some members of the team have been playing together in Naugatuck Youth Soccer since they were four years old.

“The players have really worked hard all season,” Red Dogs Head Coach Joe Campos said. “The development over the past few years has been outstanding, and it says a lot about the players’ will and the coaches we have in Naugatuck.”
