Track and Field
The Naugatuck boys are a league-best 6-0 after sweeping a pair of quad-meets while the girls are 3-0 following a sweep of their first quad-meet of the year. Both the boys and girls swept Holy Cross, Wolcott, and St. Paul April 7. The guys also swept Seymour, Watertown, and Derby Tuesday, while the girls hosted that trio on Wednesday. The boys’ narrowest win was an 81-68 victory over defending league champion Seymour, while the girls’ closest decision was an 88-65 win over Holy Cross. Top performers in the early going for the boys include jumper Amanze Williams, the 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 relay teams, and Jamaal Gee in short distance. The girls have been led by the 4-by-800 and 4-by-400 relay teams, Rosa Moriello in long distance, Tori Pisco in hurdles, and Sarah Konops and Felicity Croce in jumping.

Tennis
The Naugatuck girls’ tennis team is 3-0 while the boys are still searching for their first win. The girls have defeated Torrington, Kennedy, and Watertown thus far. Number-one player Meghan Toth and Sarah Yacavone are both undefeated in their first three matches of the spring. The doubles team of Danielle Charette and Rebeka Mitchell as well as the duo of Elicia Young and Katie Bottinick are also perfect to start the year. The boys have faced a tough schedule in the first week, losing to Torrington, Woodland, and Watertown. Top singles players Tim Simons and Ryker Nolan are 1-2 in their first three matches each. Ed Betkoski has also been solid on both the singles and doubles courts. Both teams face Crosby, Wolcott, and Sacred Heart in the next week.

Golf
The Naugatuck golfers are 1-1 after splitting a pair of matches in the first week. The Hounds beat Kennedy, 182-205, before losing to St. Paul, 165-203. Tim Fleck was the medalist against Kennedy by shooting a 41. He shot a 48 against St. Paul, second on the team to Tony Sapata’s 46. Mike Leona has posted a pair of solid scores as well, carding a 42 against Kennedy and a 49 at St. Paul. Colin Waldron notched the fourth-best score for Naugy in both matches.
