Prospect Historical Society

PROSPECT — The Prospect Historical Society is accepting applications for the Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship.

The scholarship is for $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be Prospect residents, and graduating seniors who will be attending an institute of higher learning in the fall.

The scholarship is awarded based on an applicants’ scholarship, financial need, service, and a short essay about Prospect.

Applications are available in most high school guidance offices, Prospect Town Hall and the Prospect Library. Applications are also available online at www.prospecthistoricalsociety.com. The deadline for applications is May 8.

Lioness Club

BEACON FALLS — The Lioness Club of Beacon Falls is accepting applications for a $1,000 college scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded to a female graduating from an area high school in 2012 whose legal residence is Beacon Falls. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has proven to be an outstanding citizen and is dedicated to community service. The scholarship awarded is based on academic performance, leadership and community service. The student must plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university or technical school in the fall of 2012.

Shea Memorial Scholarship available

NAUGATUCK — Applications are being sought for the Frank “Spec” Shea Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is for Naugatuck High School seniors who played sports in high school and are continuing their studies at an accredited community college, college or university.

Applications are available at the Naugatuck High School counseling office. The deadline to apply is April 25.
