NAUGATUCK — The borough is seeking the input of residents and other community stakeholders on what they would prefer Naugatuck schools to look like a decade or more from now.

Currently, the Long Term School Facility Planning Commission is researching what the ideal school structure should be for the Naugatuck school district. Mayo Bob Mezzo said, on his blog, the borough’s approach has been to envision the physical assets and configuration of borough schools ten to twenty years from now.

As the committee delves into the issue, the borough is asking residents for their opinion. Recently, a survey was released to gauge public opinion on many school-related issues, such as the current state of Naugatuck schools and how the district should be configured in the future.

“We are attempting to obtain input from as many stakeholders as possible. … While the committee will ultimately be responsible for determining its own recommendations, we believe that doing so without public input would be counterproductive and inappropriate,” Mezzo wrote on his blog.

The survey can be assessed online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FMPYCJZ. A paper version of the survey is expected to be available soon in schools and other public facilities.

Officials are asking that only one survey be filled out per person.
