NAUGATUCK — The borough school system has already begun to rack up the “snow days.”

Last year, the district used 13 snow days, the most in the state, according to Board of Education Chair David Heller.

This year, Tropical Storm Irene pushed the first day of school backed three days. The school year began with the same discussions of new last days of schools and eliminating vacation days, which dominated school board meetings during last winter’s storms.

School is currently scheduled to end June 15, and if school is canceled twice more before Feb., 10 three days will be taken away from the mid-winter break at the end of February.

“We will keep you updated if we have any more snow days before it snows,” Heller said.
