Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:
Patrick Wagner, 51, of 87 Meadow St., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 29 with driving under the influence.
Police reported on Aug. 28 at approximately 1:21 a.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Meadow Street. Based on the investigation, police reported, it was determined Wagner was operating under the influence of alcohol. Wagner was given a court date of Sept. 6 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.
Pedro R. Aviz, 79, of 48 Goodyear Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 29 with driving under the influence.
Police reported on Aug. 29 at approximately 7:58 p.m. officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on New Haven Road. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Aviz was operating under the influence of alcohol. Aviz was given a court date of Sept. 12 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.
John Johnson, 48, was charged Aug. 30 with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.
Police reported on Aug. 30 Johnson was served an active arrest warrant stemming from larcenies that occurred in Naugatuck and various dates in 2017. Johnson was held on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 30.
Juan Carlos Ortiz, 27, of 74 Ridge Road, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 30 with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening.
Police reported on Aug. 30 at approximately 5:17 p.m. officers were dispatched to a road rage incident on the Prospect Street Bridge in which the victim advised that Ortiz pulled alongside her car in the opposite lane of travel and threatened her. Ortiz was released on
$5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 12.
Kimberly Escarcega, 22, of 46 Woods Way, Woodbury, was charged Aug. 30 with sixth-degree larceny.
Police reported on Aug. 30 at approximately officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Loss prevention advised that they observed Escarcega illegally conceal items and attempt to leave the store without paying for them. Escarcega was released on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 12.
Tierra L. Bonacassio, 37, of 24 Greenwood St., Naugatuck, was charged Sept. 1 with sixth-degree larceny.
Police reported on Sept. 1 at approximately 1:43 p.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Police reported Bonacassio stole $122.39 worth of merchandise. Bonacassio was given a court date of Sept. 12 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a promise to appear.
Carlyn M. Nash, 34, of 1395 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, was charged Sept. 1 with sixth-degree larceny and second-degree failure to appear.
Police reported on Sept. 1 officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Loss prevention advised that they observed Nash illegally conceal $70.84 worth of items and exited the store without paying for them. Police reported Nash was also arrested on an active failure to appear arrest warrant. Nash was released on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 12.
Robert J. Creighton, 31, of 22 Barnum Court, Naugatuck, was charged Sept. 1 with interfering with an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and sixth-degree larceny.
Police reported on Sept. 1 an officer responded to Stop & Shop for a larceny complaint. Police reported Creighton stole merchandise from the store and was reported walking on Rubber Avenue. The officer located Creighton, who ran from the officer, police reported. Creighton was caught and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported. Creighton was given a court date of Sept. 2 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a promise to appear.
Manuel Raul Vasquez, 24, of 732 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, was charged Sept. 2 with driving under the influence and evading responsibility.
Police reported on Sept. 2 at approximately 2 a.m. the NPD responded to an incident at the Ion Bank parking lot in which a vehicle was found to be leaving the scene of a collision that had just occurred. Police reported Vasquez was found to be operating the vehicle and upon interviewing him he was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. Vasquez was released on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 13.
Diane Teixeira, 61, of 22 Arch St., Naugatuck, was charged Sept. 2 with driving and the evading responsibility.
Police reported on Sept. 2 at approximately 3:25 a.m. the NPD responded to a single-car collision near Salem Bridge in which the vehicle involved struck a light post. Teixeira was determined to have been impaired by alcohol and or drugs and was placed under arrest, police reported. Police reported Teixeira was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant that stemmed from an evading motor vehicle incident that was investigated beginning on May 11, 2018. It was determined that Teixeira was operating the evading vehicle at the time of the collision after the vehicle was taken to a local body shop to be repaired and parts of the vehicle discovered on scene of the collision were connected to the evading vehicle, police reported. Teixeira was released on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 13.
Sasha Evelisse Nieves, 24, of 852 Main St., Waterbury, was charged Sept. 2 with sixth-degree larceny.
Police reported on Sept. 2 officers were dispatched to Walmart on a report of a shoplifting from the store. Police reported loss prevention advised that they observed Nieves conceal items totaling over $61.28 and exit the store without paying for them. Nieves was released on promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 12.
