Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Joseph V. Montalto, 45, of 326 Lake Shore Road, Middlebury, was charged Dec. 27 with driving under the influence.

Police reported on Dec. 27 at approximately 1:39 p.m. on officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation on New Haven Road. Police reported Montalto was traveling close to the yellow line in the middle of the road then back over the white line. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, Montalto was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol. Montalto was given a court date of Jan. 10 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non surety bond.

Oscar M. Roggero, 42, of 515 Spring St., Naugatuck, was charged Dec. 27 with first-degree sexual assault, three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and four counts of illegal sexual contact with a victim under the age of 16.

Police reported on Dec. 27 Roggero turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was for a sexual assault reported in August 2018. Police reported Roggero sexually assaulted the juvenile victim, who was known to him. Roggero was given a court date of Dec. 28 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and held on a court-set $150,000 surety bond.

Jennifer Benaitis, 35, of 13 Fifth St., Waterbury, was charged Dec. 27 with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and failure to respond to payable violation.

Police reported on Dec. 27 at approximately 10:56 p.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Police reported Benaitis, with a female accomplice, stole $72.84 worth of merchandise. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Benaitis was wanted to an active arrest warrant. Benaitis was given a court date of Jan. 9 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a promise to appear. Benaitis was also given a court date of Jan. 4 to appear at Bridgeport Superior Court and released on a $150 cash bond.

Jaime Lynn Benaitis, 41, of 321 Grandview Ave., Waterbury, was charged Dec. 27 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Dec. 27 at approximately 10:56 p.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Police reported Benaitis, with a female accomplice, stole $72.84 worth of merchandise. Centa M. Cooke, 20, of 3336 Fenton Ave., Bronx, N.Y., was charged Dec. 28 with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Dec. 28 at approximately 12:27 a.m. an officer responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Police reported Cooke stole $131.76 worth of merchandise. Cooke was given a court date of Jan. 19 to appear at Bridgeport Superior Court and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.

Jose Luis Cruz, 46, of 167 Edgewood Ave., Waterbury, was charged Dec. 28 with two counts of second-degree failure to appear and possession of controlled substance.

Police reported on Dec. 28 at approximately 5:43 p.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation on South Main Street. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, Cruz was found to have two active prawn warrants on file. Officers searched Cruz’s motor vehicle and found a small baggy with a mixture of heroin and cocaine, police reported. Cruz was given a court date of Jan 9 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on surety bond.

Harley Zion Sanchez, 19, of 85 Ridge Road, Naugatuck, was charged Dec. 28 with second-degree breach of peace.

Police reported on Dec. 28 at approximately 6:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 97 Spring St. on a report of an assault involving three adult males. One male was seen chasing another male with a brick. Officers later took two males into custody for the assault. Sanchez was released on a $2,500.00 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 9.

Charles T. Bennett, 28, of 31 Summer St., Waterbury, was charged Dec. 28 with second-degree breach of peace.

Police reported on Dec. 28 at approximately 6:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 97 Spring St. on a report of an assault involving three adult males. One male was seen chasing another male with a brick. Officers later took two males into custody for the assault. Bennett was released on a $2,500.00 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 9.

Karen Perrotte, 50, of 18 Lake Road, Woodbury, was charged Dec. 29 with failure to insure private motor vehicle.

Police reported on Dec. 29 Perrotte was arrested on an active arrest warrant. The warrant was from a motor vehicle accident where Perrotte was found at fault but failed to carry proper insurance, police reported. Perrotte was given a court date of Jan. 9 to appear in
Waterbury Superior Court and released on a promise to appear.

Nicholas M. Duque, 45, of 65 Manners Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Dec. 29 with disorderly conduct and second-degree threatening.

Police reported on Dec. 29 Duque was arrested on an active arrest warrant stemming from a domestic incident that occurred on Nov. 11, 2018. During that incident, police reported, Duque became involved in an argument with the victim. During the argument, police reported, the incident escalated and became physical. Duque was released on a $5,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 31.

Scott Michael Troisi, 53, of 99 Kristen Court, East Haven, was charged Dec. 29 with second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, driving under the influence and sale of certain illegal drugs.

Police reported on Dec. 29 at approximately 4:44 p.m. officers responded to the area in front of the police department for a road rage incident involving an operator under the influence. Police reported Troisi had fled the scene and was later found by canine and other officers. Police reported Troisi resisted and had to be restrained by officers. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, Troisi was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Troisi was given a court date of Jan. 9 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a bond.

Emily Elizabeth Daymonde, 23, of 57 Morning Mist Road, Naugatuck, was charged Dec. 30 with driving under the influence.

Police reported on Dec. 30 at approximately 9:10 p.m. Naugatuck police initiated a motor vehicle investigation on Union Street. During the stop, police reported, Daymonde was observed to be operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Daymonde was given a court date of Jan. 9 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $500 non-surety bond.

Matthew Miner, 25, of 215 Scott St., Naugatuck, was charged Dec. 31 with driving under the influence.

Police reported on Dec. 31 at 12:09 a.m. 0fficers were dispatched to 229 Church St. for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Police reported Miner struck a light pole and a street sign. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined Miner was operating under the influence of alcohol. Miner was given a court date of Jan. 10 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.

Michael A. Dellamorte, 33, of 11 Cedar Court, East Haven, was charged Dec. 31 with second-degree failure to appear and violation of probation.

Police reported on Dec. 31 the accused was arrested on a probation violation. Dellamorte was held on a surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 2.

Anthony John Maselli, 34, of 462 1st Ave, West Haven, was charged Jan. 1 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Jan. 1 at approximately 7:14 p.m. officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that Maselli became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical. Maselli was released on a $500 non-surety bond to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 2.
