Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

David Balek, 43, of 54 Orange Terrace, West Haven, was charged Aug. 5 with fifth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Aug. 5 the accused was arrested on an active arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where the accused committed a larceny from Walmart on or about May 13, 2021. The accused was held to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 5.

Angela Lee Waters, 40, of 394 Homestead Ave., Waterbury, was charged Aug. 5 with sixth-degree larceny and three counts of violation of probation.

Police reported on Aug. 5 the accused was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Police reported the warrant was from a shoplifting incident that was reported to Naugatuck police on Dec. 2, 2020. The incident occurred at Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road. The accused was released on a $1,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 18. Police reported on Aug. 5 the accused was arrested on probation violations. The accused was released on bond and scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 2.

Rhonda J. Meier, 52, of 9 Cambridge Drive, Prospect, was charged Aug. 5 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Aug. 5 at 9:20 p.m. police were dispatched to an apparent larceny at Walmart. Upon arrival, police reported, officers ran the accused and it was observed she had an active PRAWN warrant for failure to appear. The accused was released on a $500 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Derby Superior Court on Aug. 18.

Eric Artay Burns, 39, of 121 Hill St. Ext., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 5 with third-degree larceny.

Police reported on Aug. 5 the Stratford Police Department notified the Naugatuck Police Department in regards to a recovered stolen motor vehicle. Police reported officers responded to the scene and through further investigation they were able to locate the accused. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 18.

Geovanni Joel Rivera, 36, 48 Craftwood Road Apt. 4L, Waterbury, was charged Aug. 6 with second-degree harassment and violation of restraining order.

Police reported on Aug. 6 officers were dispatched to a report of a protective order violation. Through the course of the investigation, police reported, officers determined the accused violated a full no-contact protective order by calling a residence. The accused was contacted and later came to the police department. The accused was released on a $10,000 cash bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 9.

Michael J. Akerson, 32, of 3124 Broadbridge Ave., Stratford, was charged Aug. 6 with risk of injury to child, second-degree breach of peace, two counts of second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree stalking, disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment.

Police reported on Aug. 6 the accused was arrested on two arrest warrants. Police reported one arrest warrant was issued for an incident that occurred on Aug. 6, 2021, where the accused threatened and harassed a victim. The other arrest warrant was issued for an incident that occurred on Aug 5, 2021, where the accused arrived at the victim’s residence uninvited, threatened her and damaged property. The accused was held on bonds totaling $20,000 and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 9.

Daphne T. Mathews, 33, of 278 High St. Apt. 2, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 7 with risk of injury to child, violation of protective order, second-degree assault-victim elderly or other, disorderly conduct and two counts of violation of probation.

Police reported on Aug. 7 at approximately 3:18 p.m. officers responded to a residence for a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that the accused became involved in an argument that escalated and became physical when, according to the victim and a witness, the accused punched and kicked the victim several times. Police reported the accused was arrested on active violation of probation (PRAWN) arrest warrants. The accused was held on bonds totaling $30,000 and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 9.

Alec Gridley, 37, of 48 Round Tree Drive Apt. 2, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 8 with risk of injury to child, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree assault and second-degree stalking.

Police reported on Aug. 8 at approximately 7:32 a.m. officers responded to the area of Lantern Park Drive on a report of a female party running through the neighborhood with a child in her arms, screaming for help. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that the accused physically assaulted the female party and her child. According to the victim, police reported, the accused covered the child’s airway, physically assaulted the child to which the child sustained severe injuries. Police reported the female received minor injuries while attempting to help her child and flee the area to safety. The accused was held on a $200,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 9.

Brian Anthony Defilio, 26, of 2 Colony Road, Ansonia, was charged Aug. 8 with criminal impersonation and second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Aug. 8 an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on Route 8 south. During the course of the investigation, police reported, the accused provided the name of a family member to avoid being arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant. The real identity of the accused was found, police reported, and he was arrested for the outstanding PRAWN arrest warrant. The accused was held on a $5,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 9.

Krystal Elizabeth Hromjak, 26, of 259 May St., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 9 with second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Aug. 9 Connecticut State Police Troop H notified Naugatuck police that the accused was in custody. Police reported the accused also had an active arrest warrant out of Naugatuck for threatening a victim and damaging items within a residence on May 29, 2021. The accused was transported to Naugatuck Police Department. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 10.

Nathan Elijah Feliciano, 18, of 155 South St. 3Fl., Waterbury, was charged Aug. 9 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Aug. 9 at approximately 5:37 p.m. the accused was stopped and cited for motor vehicle violations. During that interaction, police reported, it was discovered the accused had an outstanding arrest warrant. The accused was released on a $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 18.

Jessica Ann Correia, 35, of 53 Sharon Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 9 with risk of injury to child and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Aug. 9 at approximately 6:27 p.m. officers responded to an address in regards to a domestic violence incident. Police reported it was determined through investigation that the accused had gotten physical with the victim in the presence of a child. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 10.

Ana Oliveira, 51, of 134 Miller Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 9 with second-degree failure to appear, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance and town counts of illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension.

Police reported on Aug. 9 at approximately 5:55 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation in the area of 628 New Haven Road. Through the course of the investigation, police reported, it was discovered the accused was operating the motor vehicle with a suspended license and the vehicle did not have sufficient insurance. Police reported the accused was also arrested on an active (PRAWN) arrest warrant. The accused was released on bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

John P. DeBarrows, 83, of 18 Bridge St. Apt. 1E, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 12 with second-degree breach of peace and public indecency.

Police reported on Aug. 12 the accused turned himself in on a warrant. Police reported the warrant stemmed from an incident that took place on May 18, 2021, where the accused was observed exposing his genitals outside of his residence. The accused was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Esmeralda L. Padilla-Pontier, 24, of 40 Village Circle, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 12 with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Aug. 12 at 2:17 p.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, for a report of a larceny shoplifting. Through investigation, police reported, the accused was found to have gone through the self-checkout aisle without scanning a total amount of $119.69 worth of merchandise. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Robert Y. Faber, 28, of 79 Great Hill Road, Oxford, was charged Aug. 12 with negligent cruelty to persons and risk of injury to child.

Police reported on Aug. 12 at approximately 5 p.m. an officer initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the area of the Prospect Street bridge. Through the officer’s investigation, police reported, the accused was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. The accused was released on a $25,000 Surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Natalie Lynn Raymunt, 33, of 59 Country Place, Shelton, was charged Aug. 12 with sixth-degree larceny.

Police reported on Aug. 12 at 10:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Walmart, 1100 New Haven Road, for a shoplifting complaint. Through officers’ investigation, police reported, it was found the accused attempted to steal approximately $300 worth of clothing. Police reported the accused used premade bar codes to scan items at a significantly lower price through self-checkout. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 1.

Rafael Villegas, 33, of 10 3rd St., Waterbury, was charged Aug. 12 with first-degree criminal trespass, violation of protective order and third-degree assault.

Police reported on Aug. 12 at approximately 10:55 p.m. the accused turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. Police reported the warrant was in regards to a domestic incident, which took place on July 31, 2021. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation the accused got into a physical altercation with the victim. The accused was released on a $25,000 court-set surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 13.

Cristian Chuintia, 29, of 82 Giles St., Waterbury, was charged Aug. 12 with failure to drive in proper lane, operating motor vehicle without license, engaging police in pursuit and interfering with an officer.

Police reported on Aug. 12 the accused was pulled over for motor vehicle violations, and suspicion of DUI, in which he did not initially stop. For approximately half a mile, police reported, the accused continued and eventually pulled to the right on Maple Street. Police reported the accused resisted as officers were placing him under arrest. The accused was released on bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Dean Bedard, 18, 35 Andrasko Road, Beacon Falls, was charged Aug. 13 with negligent cruelty to persons and risk of injury to child.

Police reported on Aug. 13 at around 3 p.m. the accused was arrested by Seymour police over an unrelated incident. During that arrest, police reported, it was found that the accused had an outstanding arrest warrant in Naugatuck. Subsequently the accused was arrested and served with the arrest warrant. The accused was held on a $25,000.00 bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 16.

Troy L. Kafka, 49, of 1 Schmitz Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 13 with violation of probation.

Police reported on Aug. 13 at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Naugatuck Police Department responded to Schmitz Avenue for a welfare check. During this investigation, police reported, it was discovered that the accused had an active PRAWN warrant out for his arrest. The accused was held on a $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 16.

Cory Mejnartowicz, 40, of 1 Cherokee Trail, Shelton, was charged Aug. 14 with violation of protective order and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Aug. 14 at approximately 9:39 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in Naugatuck for a physical domestic complaint. According to the victim, police reported, the accused slapped him in the face several times during a verbal argument. Police reported it was also discovered there was a full no-contact protective order in place between the accused and the victim. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 16.

Nick C. Burns, 45, of 152 May St., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 14 with violation of protective order.

Police reported on Aug. 14 at approximately 9:39 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in Naugatuck for a domestic complaint. Through the course of the investigation, police reported, it was discovered there was a full no-contact protective order in place between the accused and the victim. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 16.

Jordy Rodriguez, 29, of 141 Edson Ave., Waterbury, was charged Aug. 15 with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree assault.

Police reported on Aug. 15 at 1:16 a.m. officers responded to a fight outside of 66 Church St. Upon arrival, police reported, one male was severally bleeding from his face. Police reported it was determined the accused had fled the scene prior to police arrival. During the investigation, police reported, officers were able to confirm the name of the accused from a bar employee. The accused was later contacted via cell phone and agreed to turn himself in. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 1.

Andre Miguel Jones, 27, of 99 Lantern Park Drive Apt. 6, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 15 with risk of injury to child, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Aug. 15 at approximately 3:27 p.m. the accused was taken into custody on an active domestic arrest warrant. Police reported the arrest warrant stemmed from a physical altercation that occurred with a victim on March 30, 2021. The accused was released on a $50,000 court-set surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 16.

Shannon Rose Dennis, 27, of 33 Hill St. 3Fl., Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 15 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Aug. 15 at approximately 6:25 p.m. the accused was arrested on an active (PRAWN) arrest warrant during a motor vehicle stop. The accused was released on a court-set $2,500 cash/surety bond and scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior
Court on Aug. 30.

Christian Joel Rivera, 25, of 40 Brittany Lane, Naugatuck, was charged Aug. 15 with carrying dangerous weapon, violation of protective order, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on Aug. 15 officers were dispatched to a physical domestic altercation. Police reported the altercation started over the victim accusing the accused for talking to other women on his phone. Police reported it was determined the accused slapped the victim in the face in front of kids. The accused also had an active PRAWN warrant. The accused was held on a $20,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury
Superior Court on Aug. 16.
