Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Vanessa A. Wallen, 36, of 49 Chapman Ave., Waterbury, was charged July 1 with assault of public safety or emergency medical personnel.

Police reported on June 30 at approximately 11:55 p.m. the accused was being processed at the Naugatuck Police Department on unrelated charges when she spit in the face of an officer while being taken to a cell. The accused was held on an additional $5,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 1.

Mohammed Eftakher Hossain, 52, of 517 Spring St. Apt. A, Naugatuck, was charged July 1 with evading responsibility-injury/property damage.

Police reported on July 1 at approximately 5:20 p.m. officers responded to Kentucky Fried Chicken, 115 Bridge St., to investigate a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant. Police reported officers spoke to the complainant who stated her vehicle was struck by a gray SUV, which fled the scene afterward. Police reported officers located and identified the operator of the striking vehicle. The accused was released on scene with a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 26.

Judith Cullen, 62, of 925 Oronoke Road 12f, Waterbury, was charged July 2 with sixth-degree larceny and simple trespass.

Police reported on July 2 Walmart contacted Naugatuck police for a shoplifter. Police reported the accused was reported to have stolen $35.91 in merchandise. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Robert Lee Berry, 40, of 83 Prospect St. Apt. 5a, Naugatuck, was charged July 2 with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.

Police reported on July 2 an officer conducted a motor vehicle investigation on New Haven Road. During the course of the investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused had an active arrest warrant. Police reported the accused was accused of striking someone in the face during a disagreement. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Jeffniqua Tyshon Smith, 28, of 36 Hudson St., New Haven, was charged July 2 with possession of controlled substance, illegal possession of weapon in motor vehicle, interfering with an officer, criminal possession of pistol/revolver and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Donta Lamont Crockett, 29, of 7 Ipswich St., West Haven, was charged July 2 with possession of controlled substance, illegal possession of weapon in motor vehicle, interfering with an officer, criminal possession of pistol/revolver, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, assault of public safety or emergency medical personnel, engaging police in pursuit, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, illegal operation of motor vehicle without tint inspection, operating/towing unregistered motor vehicle, improper entry/exit of limited access highway, evading responsibility-injury/property damage, evading responsibility-physical injury, reckless driving, illegal operation of motor vehicle without insurance and improper use of marker, license or registration.

Christy Marie Cruz, 24, of 18 E. Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, was charged July 3 with violation of protective order.

Police reported on July 3 at approximately 2:50 a.m. officers were dispatched to the four-way intersection of Meadow and Water streets for a suspicious person. During the course of the investigation, police reported, it was found the accused was in violation of a court order. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 5.

Demetri Echevarria, 27, of 32 Phoenix Ave., Naugatuck, was charged July 4 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on July 4 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Naugatuck police were dispatched to an address in Naugatuck on report of a physical altercation. Through investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim then the accused physically assaulted the victim. Police reported it was also determined that the accused became involved in a physical altercation with another victim. Bond was set at $1,000 and the accused was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 6.

Jordan Robert Millette, 22, of 157 City Hill St., Naugatuck, was charged July 4 with operating unregistered motor vehicle, operating motor vehicle without a license, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance and improper use of marker, license or registration.

Police reported the accused was stopped on Locust Street while observed driving an unregistered motor vehicle with the wrong registration plates and no insurance. The accused was released on a $2,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 14.

David R. Strasdauskas, 56, of 1 Lester St., Ansonia, was charged July 4 with littering on public land/water.

Police reported on July 4 the accused was observed operating a vehicle on Prospect Street and was stopped for motor vehicle violations. Police reported the accused was identified and arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from an incident from 2019 in which the accused dumped a significant amount of trash in the Naugatuck Industrial Park. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 14.

Jordan Robert Millette, 22, of 157 City Hill St., Naugatuck, was charged July 4 with operating motor vehicle without a license, engaging police in pursuit and failure to use seat belt.

Police reported on July 4 at 7:30 p.m. the accused was stopped for motor vehicle violations and, once identified, placed under arrest for an outstanding arrest warrant. Police reported the warrant stemmed from May 19, 2021, in which the accused engaged officers in pursuit. The accused was released on a $1,000 court-set bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 14.

Jeffrey Kwaame Amankwah, 22, of 90 Celantano Drive, Naugatuck, was charged July 6 with engaging police in pursuit, illegal operation of motor vehicle without tint inspection, reckless driving and failure to display plates/inserts.

Police reported on July 6 at approximately 3 p.m. the accused turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. Police reported the accused is accused of engaging officers in pursuit along with other motor vehicle charges. Bond was set at $1,000 and the accused was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 15.

Juan A. Lopez, 51, of 171 Yake St. Apt. C, Waterbury, was charged July 6 with second-degree failure to appear.

Police reported on July 6 an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on New Haven Road. During the course of the investigation, police reported, the accused was found to have an active PRAWN arrest warrant dating back from 2011. The accused was released on a
$395 cash-only bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 21.

Rachel Marie Waters, 31, of 132 Park Ave., Naugatuck, was charged July 6 with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on July 6 at approximately 8:53 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence in Naugatuck on the report of a domestic incident. Through the officers’ investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused allegedly slapped the victim in the face. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 7.

Anthony Jesus Lopez, 19, of 43 Winchester St., Waterbury, was charged July 6 with violation of protective order.

Police reported on July 6 at approximately 11:50 p.m. the accused was arrested after an investigation into a parked vehicle at Linden Park after hours. Police reported the accused was found to be in violation of a protective order with a female inside the vehicle. The accused was released on a $1,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on July 7.

Michael Keith Robertson, 35, of 97 Fern St. Apt. 12, Naugatuck, was charged July 8 with second-degree harassment.

Police reported on July 8 officers responded to a residence in attempts to make contact with a suspect that had an active warrant for his arrest. Police reported officers made contact with such suspect and such warrant was confirmed. The accused was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 9.

Daniel H. Green, 35, of 159 Spring St., Naugatuck, was charged July 8 with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on July 8 officers responded to a residence in attempts to make contact with a suspect that had an active warrant for his arrest. Police reported officers made contact with such suspect and such warrant was confirmed. The accused was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 9.

Rafael Rosario, 27, of 102 Spring St. Apt. 1F, Naugatuck, was charged July 9 with risk of injury to child, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on July 9 the accused turned himself in to police headquarters on an active arrest warrant out of Naugatuck. Police reported the warrant was for a domestic incident involving the accused that occurred on June 16, 2021. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 12.

Matthew Solberg, 32, of 542 High St., Naugatuck, was charged July 9 with disorderly conduct.

Police reported on July 9 at 1:30 p.m. Naugatuck police responded to a residence on High Street for a domestic disturbance. During the course of this investigation, police reported, it was learned that the accused became physical with a victim after being told to leave the residence. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 12.

Jonathan Ulysses Miller, 36, of 102 Spring St. Apt. 6, Naugatuck, was charged July 9 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, interfering with an officer/resisting, engaging police in pursuit, third-degree criminal mischief, illegal operation of motor vehicle without tint inspection, illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension-alcohol, operating unregistered motor vehicle, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance, failure to display plates/inserts and improper use of marker, license or registration.

Police reported on July 9 an officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle investigation on Route 8 north after observing a vehicle on Cross Street. Police reported the vehicle failed to stop, engaging police in pursuit and fleeing the area. Police reported a suspect was quickly developed, and approximately one hour later, officers located the vehicle on Crown Street. Police reported the accused was the operator of the vehicle in both incidents and was taken into custody. The accused was held on a $25,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 12.

Lita Ortiz, 18, of 129 Lewis St. Apt. 24, Naugatuck, was charged July 11 with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening.

Police reported on July 11 at approximately 1:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence for a disorderly conduct complaint. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation that accused and victim were in a verbal argument outside the residence, and the accused threatened the victim in front of officers. The accused was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 21.
