Naugatuck police recently filed the following charges:

Steven Procopro Brito, 26, of 16 Scuppo Road Apt. C, Danbury, was charged Feb. 1 with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Feb. 1 at approximately 4:39 p.m. officers responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation the accused became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated and became physical. The accused was held on a $1,500 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 2.

Kamal Davion Bryan, 37, of 618 Sylvan Ave., Waterbury, was charged Feb. 1 with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Feb. 1 the accused was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where the accused was involved in a domestic dispute. The accused was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 2.

Peter Martonick, 52, of 18 Baldwin St., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 2 with criminal attempt at third-degree burglary, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.

Police reported on Feb. 2 at approximately 8:30 a.m. it was reported the accused was seen attempting to get into vehicles by pulling on car door handles as well as approaching random residences, banging on their doors asking for a ride. Police reported the accused was subsequently arrested. The accused was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on March 10.

Johnnie Bolden, 55, of 2 Skyline Drive, Jersey City, N.J., was charged Feb. 2 with illegal possession of weapon in motor vehicle, sixth-degree larceny, first-degree robbery, criminal use of weapon, criminal possession of pistol/revolver and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Feb. 2 the accused was arrested on an active outstanding arrest warrant. Police reported the arrest stems from an incident in which the accused provided a ride to the victim from New York and upon dropping him off at his residence pulled a gun on the victim and demanded money. Police reported the accused took the money and left the scene. The accused was held on a court-set $500,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 3.

Jemal Karreem Small, 32, of 59 Lewis Circle, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 3 with improper use of marker, license or registration, illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance, operating/towing unregistered motor vehicle, illegal operation of motor vehicle under suspension, tinted auto glass requirements and engaging police in pursuit.

Police reported on Feb. 3 at approximately 4:18 p.m. an officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on the accused. Police reported the accused accelerated away from the officer while pulling into side streets to elude the officer. Police reported the accused was located on a side street, parked. Police reported the accused’s vehicle was unregistered, uninsured, and did not have the correct registration plates displayed. The accused was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior
Court on April 1.

Frederick Howard Schilkowski, 39, of 111 Mallane Lane Apt. 13A, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 3 with evading responsibility, illegal use another to bypass with ignition interlock device, failure to drive in proper lane and illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Police reported on Feb. 3 at approximately 7:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to an evading a motor vehicle accident in the area of 182 Meadow St. Police reported officers were advised prior to arrival that the accused had fled the scene. Police reported officers found the accused sometime later. Police reported the accused was also operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, while failing to drive in the established lane. The accused was released on $5,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on April 1.

Luz Carmen Collado De Diaz, 26, of 183 Wyckoff Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged Feb. 4 with conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit to commit third-degree forgery.

Police reported on Feb. 4 the accused was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Police reported the warrant was from an incident where the accused acquired high amounts of money with illegal checks through a process called “check washing.” The accused was released on a $2,500 surety bond to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 10.

Jean C. Diaz, 28, of 183 Wyckoff Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged Feb. 4 with conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit to commit third-degree forgery.

Emily Rose Dyer, 19, of 669 High St. Fl. 2, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 4 with illegal operation of motor vehicle without minimum insurance, unsafe backing and interfering with an officer/resisting.

Police reported on Feb. 4 at approximately 2:47 p.m. an officer was dispatched to North Main Street for a motor vehicle collision. During the investigation, police reported, it was determined the accused did not have valid insurance and was in possession of narcotics. When the officer attempted to conduct the arrest, police reported, the accused resisted arrest, and after a brief struggle with the officer the accused was placed in handcuffs without further incident. The accused was arrested released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 5.

William Castro, 66, of 145 Phoenix Ave., Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 5 with illegal operation of motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Police reported on Feb. 5 at 11:32 p.m. the accused was stopped for motor vehicle violations on Maple Street. During the investigation, police reported, the accused was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at the Waterbury Superior Court on March 31.

Andrea Arango, 18, of 155 Lorann Drive, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 6 with risk of injury to child, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct.

Police reported on Feb. 6 at approximately 12:33 p.m. officers responded to a residence for a reported domestic dispute. Police reported it was discovered through the investigation the accused was involved in argument, which led to a physical altercation where the accused threatened the victim with a kitchen knife. The accused was released on a $5,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 8.

Joshua Gordon Laverty, 20, of 2 Harvest Lane, Naugatuck, was charged Feb. 6 with second-degree breach of peace.

Police reported on Feb. 6 at 9 p.m. officers were dispatched to a domestic assault. Through further investigation, police reported, officers determined the incident to be physical. The accused was released on a 2,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Feb. 8.

Steven Sanchez-Rodriguez, 23, of 301 E. 156th St., New York, N.Y., was charged Feb. 7 with possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit possession with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis, conspiracy to commit possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis and possession of less than half ounce of cannabis.

Police reported on Feb. 7 at approximately 4:44 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Main Street. During the course of the investigation, police reported, it was determined there were drugs and paraphernalia located within the vehicle. The accused was released on a $10,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 31.

Jonathan Louis Brito, 27, of 650 Mix Ave. Apt. 5E, Hamden, was charged Feb. 7 with possession with intent to sell, conspiracy to commit possession with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis and conspiracy to commit possession of controlled substance or more than half ounce of cannabis.

Police reported on Feb. 7 at approximately 4:44 p.m. an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Main Street. During the course of the investigation, police reported, it was determined there were drugs and paraphernalia located within the vehicle. The accused was released on a $10,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 31.
